Water is Life

Fountain depicting Hygieia, the Greek Goddess of health, surrounded by other figures meant to represent the power found in water, and the purity and health one can take from it. In this picture we see a water nymph in the foreground.

Located in the interior court at the Rathaus in Hamburg, Germany. The fountain was erected as part of a memorial to a cholera epidemic. Photo taken Summer 2011.
